I *think* the magazines will stay here, but haven't decided for sure. If they do, I'll style them up a bit. Can't wait to fix the lovely cord situation! (And, taking it back to Downton Abbey season three!)
There's nothing like adding art to the walls to really change the feel of a room, and it feels great to finally have the piece up over the sofa! I was thinking about adding another, small piece of art partially behind the lampshade, but now that the lamps are switched around (again :)), I'm not sure. I think I'll keep it simple for now, but will decide for sure once the rest of the art is up. What do you think?
The blue console obviously packs a modern punch (and there's more modern coming!), and this art is a great juxtaposition. It was an amazing thrift store find that I updated with a little paint. As a reminder, here's the original...
And now, with the frame and mat freshly painted, the art really pops, don't you think?
With the addition of the blue on the console, I wondered if it would be TOO much blue in the room with the rug, daybed fabric, pillows. I've been thinking about changing the daybed fabric for some variety, but I really like the different shades of blue playing off each other. Perhaps I'll switch it out down the road, but I think it stays for now. Lots of blue lovers voting for "stay" on instagram yesterday!
I decided to forfeit a taller side table next to the daybed, and instead use a small accent table for this corner. This entire wall is pretty full, and without a table filling the entire space between daybed and wall, this extra bit of breathing space is a welcome change! And see the art leaning behind the red table? Another thrift store find that I just love the feel of, and would really like to incorporate in the room. (I'm sorry this isn't the clearest photo... but trust me, it's so good!) In the end, it might end up just leaning against the wall...I always love some leaning art!
The last major element is art for the TV wall. I know... fairly important! The art itself has been shipped, I'm picking up frames this week and hope to have it up by this weekend. Here's a sneaky preview...
It's going to be SO good and the perfect finishing touch for the room (along with final styling, painting the basket for DVD player, hiding media cords, patch and touch up dozens of holes in the walls...). :)
