Week four just might be the week we became a no-TV family… because I would much rather style this up with lots of pretty things than media components (are you with me?!). Ahhh I am loving it! As you probably know by now, it's week four of six in the One Room Challenge hosted by Linda of Calling it Home, and things are getting real. I'm joining hundreds of bloggers in the fun - make sure to see how they're all doing with their approaching deadline as well. In case you need to catch up...
To fully appreciate this week's progress, here's the room just a few weeks ago:
Last week, I mentioned ice blue as an option for the paint color for this piece. I'm loving ice blue lately, but decided on a much bolder blue for a few reasons. Between the daybed fabric and pillows, there's a good amount of light/medium blue tones in the room already and I didn't want this piece to fall flat. Also, being the clear focal point of the room made this a real opportunity to make a statement (combined with the to-be art for this wall). But I also didn't want it to be an outlier (yellow, for example) as the room needs some cohesion, being part of an open floor plan. I decided to go with a color I already know and love, and just happened to have in my stash already. Extra credit if you recognized this as the same blue gracing the walls of my office that I shared last week. It reads a little brighter on the console, which is nice as it provides some variety.
I love white and no matter what I'm painting, consider going white during the priming stage. It was no different this time, but I had to try for bold and am so glad I did!
Went with yet another member of the blue family with this frame - again, cohesion but not matchy; coordinated with variety. There's a grayish-blue in the art that this connects to - you'll see! The white board is the mat. This is going over the sofa and will be gorgeous.
Clearing out the under-console storage has me thinking about different ways to approach my magazine piles. They're not staying under the daybed, but I'm not sure they'll all stay under the TV either. I love the opportunity to see the room with fresh eyes, and styling is just around the corner!
Still searching for a few loose ends and am really excited to see it all come together in the next few short days!
