Well, it's week three, and I'm feeling surprisingly calm given the amount of actual progress! I'm joining many other bloggers in this crazy adventure called the One Room Challenge, where we tackle a room makeover in the span of six Thursdays. The fun is hosted by Linda of Calling it Home, and you should definitely head on over there to see how everyone else is doing this week!
The big development for me this week was a decision on art for the TV wall, so although it's still in the works, it feels like a huge load off to have this decided. Here are some clues as to the direction I'm headed here...
Other baby steps include: new matchstick blinds installed to match the other windows in the room (yay!)...
A lampshade or two swapped out...
And a disassembled frame and matting waiting for a new paint job! I'll decide on the color for both of these once the media console color is finalized. I'm leaning towards ice blue for the console…what do you think? I'm also considering painting the dark wood moroccan table (seen in the first photo, above). I'd love to paint it white…or something crazy. Controversial, I'm sure. Thoughts?
I still need to find a (taller!) replacement table for this area. Thrift stores have not come through for me on this one, at least not yet. I'm leaning towards keeping the suzani draped over it, so have been looking for something very simple/plain. What makes it tricky is that it can't be much wider than the current table (actually, a lidded basket) as there's no room for the daybed to move over. I'm hopeful I'll find something soon!
I know, those are some seriously lonely walls right there, and I'm surely more excited than anyone to remedy this. Soon, very soon!
Goals for this coming week:
- Paint media console
- Paint a pattern on the DVD player basket (stripes? triangles?)
- Paint frame + mat for large print; hang
- Finalize details for TV wall art
- Find new end table for daybed
