Happy New Year! Although our ringing in of the New Year was extremely low-key, I have an anticipation about the coming year that just has me excited! I don't claim to know what it will bring, but I do know that God is already stirring and depositing new things in me and I'm just grateful, grateful, grateful. I've been praying and trying to listen for how this may translate into what/how/when I blog, and for now I'm just trying to be obedient one day at a time. We'll see where this brings us! In the meantime, here's a quick update about what we've been up to in these parts...
I resisted packing up the Christmas decor as long as I could. And as much as I would have enjoyed the twinkling lights for many more weeks, I have to admit it felt good to regain some of the space in our house. I had swapped the sofa and daybed to make room for the Christmas tree, but there were a couple of things not working perfectly with the new set-up. The mirror above the sofa was too small, so it traded places with the wicker sunburst that had been over our bed. I much better fit (above). My mom gave me a beautiful scarf for Christmas, which is currently thrown over the back of the sofa. And overall, it just kind of feels like the room can breath again. I wasn't ready to part with the collection of taper candles we'd enjoyed through the holidays (as you can see below), so a few of them were relocated to a hallway nook (top photo, above).
Just a few fun snapshots of life this past week or so… post-Christmas drippy candles, bulbs being swept up and packed up 'til next time, and post-holiday styling. :)
And…have I mentioned lately how much I love my California? It's true…last week, we sat out on the deck for a little while one afternoon and felt the warm sun on our skin. I'm grateful and not taking it for granted for one second. My husband are always saying to each other, almost in disbelief, "we live here!!" Amazing.
I know, it's a little Christmas-sy, but I am so into plaid lately!! Can't get enough! Kind of goes with an overall shift I've been noticing in myself - a leaning towards things more traditional…more on that later.
Christmas clean-up along with a few new pieces of jewelry prompted a reorganization of the dresser surface. We also took a short but wonderful getaway to Sonoma County just before New Year's. Such a treat to soak up the change of scenery and slower pace for 24 hours.
Thanks for coming alongside me on this ride! I'm grateful for each of you who stop by this little part of the world and show support. Hang on, because 2015 is going to be quite a ride!
