Welcome to our colorful, festive home! This is not your typical "Christmas tour," which is just the way I like it. I love red & green, I love traditions, and can appreciate more understated, classic decor…but for our home's decor, I prefer personality and whimsy. .
I did stick with all bulbs (+ round, beaded garland) on our tree this year, which felt pretty sophisticated to me. :) "Perfect" is not my thing - I like things to feel comfortable, casual…thus, the loosely-tied bow atop the tree. And if there's a time to go all out on over-the-top decorating, it's got to be Christmas, right?! I looooove to sprinkle spots of festive cheer all throughout the house.
If you follow me on instagram, you may have spotted this amazing genie (?) that I scored at the thrift store this week. It's one of those amazing props that I know will be the perfect touch for certain projects/shoots…and in the meantime, will surely travel around our house. :)
In the upper left photo above, behind the scarf is our DVD player. I often place decorative items in front of it for a quick disguise - and it doesn't get much easier than a scarf! And the air plants are still going strong over here! :)
Can you believe these bookends?! I actually thrifted this one quite awhile ago, and it's been in storage, just waiting for the perfect (boy's room? funky library?) project to use it in… and once again, I will be happy to take good care of it for now.
Truth be told, I'm still sprinkling new vignettes around, almost daily. I have a couple of bins full of decorations out in the dining room, and when inspiration strikes, I go for it. I just may share a few more fun shots before the season's over, because…why not?! It's Christmas!
